DoctorLaptop Alert! Windows Live Mail 2012 Now Obsolete!

Using Windows Live Mail 2012 with Outlook.com? No more. Time to update your email application!

From MS Office Support: To provide you an email experience with enhanced performance, security and reliability, the new Outlook.com has been built upon our latest Office 365 infrastructure. Because the Windows Live Mail 2012 email application doesn’t support the protocols used by this new infrastructure, you will no longer be able to send or receive Outlook.com email from Windows Live Mail 2012. If you currently use Windows Live Mail 2012 to connect to Outlook.com, we recommend that you switch to the Mail app on Windows 8.1/10. THIS DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS 7! For Win 7 users, Microsoft suggests you upgrade to Win 10 as a solution, a non-solution for many Win 7 users who can not upgrade due to hardware limitations.

Q. What if I am using Windows 7 and do not wish to, or are unable to, upgrade to use the Mail app?

A. If you do not wish to upgrade, you can access your account directly by signing in via a web browser or you can take advantage of a free one-year subscription for Office 365 Personal and use Outlook 2016 to connect to your account. This Office 365 subscription includes the Outlook 2016 email application as well as other productivity applications such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel. It works on Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1 and Windows 10.

Your followers control their own subscriptions – you don’t and can’t do this for them. Below are brief instructions for unsubscribing from a blog if the person has a WordPress.com username account:

      1. click the “unsubscribe” link on the emails of the posts received at the very bottom of the emails.
      2. go here > http://wordpress.com/#!/read/edit/ locate and click the “x” next to any blog there to unfollow it and no longer receive posts in the Reader or by email.
      3. go to the blog in question and click the unfollow/follow link on your Admin bar.

If the susbcriber does not have a WordPress.com username account then 1. applies.
      1. click the “unsubscribe” link on the emails of the posts received at the very bottom of the emails.
